In a controversial April petition, the New England Ratepayers Association (NERA) petitioned the Federal Energy Regulation Commision (FERC) to assert jurisdiction over any on-site, behind-the-meter generation that injects energy onto the grid.
Along with many in the industry, we responded by calling on solar and clean energy advocates to take action and make their voices heard in opposition of this filing which could have potentially made individual states lose control over their net-metering policies, significantly impacting the distributed generation solar market throughout the United States.
Read our full response and call to action.
Through mid-June, the petition received monumental opposition by the public and clean energy advocates. Oppositional comments were submitted from:
- More than 450 organizations
- 57,000 individuals
- 37 states
FERC responded by dismissing the highly controversial petition.
Thank you to everyone to made their voices heard!
